Reactions and New Video – NieR: Automata Demo

The original Nier came out in 2010 for the Playstation 3. No one thought it was likely we’d be getting a sequel as E3 2015 rolled around, but then NieR: Automata was announced. Now, 18 months later, we have a full fledged demo on Playstation 4.

The game feels a lot like Devil May Cry in its combat, which is a positive. It felt fluid and responsive with fast pace. I am not 100 percent sure of the frame rate, but it felt like 60 FPS. The game play didn’t vary much in the demo, but I can only imagine the variety of things you can do in the full game with skill customization (done through ‘chip’ add ons) and crafting. The demo characteristically ended with a teaser of the giant boss combat we’ll likely see in the full game.

Enjoy the video and keep an eye on this game. It’s shaping up to be a very solid JRPG addition to next gen consoles and PC.

NieR: Automata releases on March 7, 2017.
